Forty two communities in six local governments areas of Katsina state have in the last two years received about N478m from the World Bank-supported Community and Social Development Projects (CSDP) to improve infrastructure at the grassroots. Arewa Trust Weekly reports that the communities are in Bakori, Danmusa, Kaita, Kankara, Mani and Rimi local government areas.
Speaking at the flag-off of some of the community projects in collaboration with Oando Foundation, the Acting General Manager, CSDP, in Katsina State, Alhaji Muhammad Dikko Abdulaziz, said N151 million was disbursed to improve the education sector while N327 million was disbursed for the execution of projects in health, electricity, water supply and roads sectors.
According to him, the present partnership with Oando Foundation would further assist in uplifting the living conditions of the rural areas. In her remarks, the Oando Foundation’s Programme Manager, represented by Ms Tonia Uduimoh, said that the foundation is intervening in 23 states to boost the education sector through the provisions of scholarships, school infrastructure, digital literacy centres and building the capacity of teachers.
