The Chairman Senate Committee on Defense, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko will establish first private University in Sokoto axis (Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States) in the North western region.
Senator Wamakko made the disclosure when he was Picking the ten Copies of Forms for the establishment of Private University called “The North West University of Science” at the National Universities Commission’s secretariat (NUC) in Abuja on 22nd August, 2019 saying that the whole axis have no single private university to cater for the large number of Student seeking University Education.
He further stated that he has defended his Phd thesis in Ahmadu Bello University Zaria not to seek for any academic position in future, but to inspire the younger generation.
He further expressed his gratitude to the NUC for the unflinching support during his tenure in office as a Sokoto State Governor when he was to establish the Sokoto State University. The Senator also lamented that he operated a free and compulsory Education system in Sokoto State during his term in office.
Earlier in his welcome address, the NUC Boss, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed lamented the lack of private University in Sokoto axis to carter the need for teeming populace who are willing to subscribe for the University education. He also commended the Senator for establishing the University with a view to uplifting the standard of Education in the area and the entire Nation and not for profit making venture.
