Another kudos to Senator Ahmed Babba Kaita for another tireless effort that has yielded fruit. Perhaps, coincidental but no less impressive that, while a team led by Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Mr. Sunny Echono, was in Katsina to convey to Katsina State Government approval for the establishment of Federal Polytechnic Daura and inform the State of the setting up of a 10-man committee to ensure the speedy take-of the Polytechnic, the Hon. Minister of Interior, Alh. Rauf Aregbesola has, in another development, approved the establishment of a North-West Federal Fire Service Training School in Katsina State all thanks to the tireless efforts of Senator Ahmed Babba Kaita and the enormous support and encouragement of Governor Aminu Bello Masari.

No doubt a double victory for Katsina State. The 2 brand new institutions would contribute a lot in filling the manpower deficits that has been the bane of previous and ongoing development efforts in Katsina State, particularly Katsina North Senatorial zone. In line with his agenda to speed-up development in the State, Governor Masari has accepted the proposal and approved the establishment and siting of the proposed Fire Service Training School in the state, specifically in Kankia town. Governor Masari also pledged the commitment of the State Government to support and nurse the 2 institutions to maturity in the shortest possible time.

In no small means, this would enhance the efforts of the Masari administration to reduce unemployment rate in Katsina State while equipping the youth with the required skills to pursue careers in diverse disciplines not to mention the new window opened for youth with interests in pursuing a career in a critical sector of disaster and emergency management that requires specialized skills which would now be obtainable in Kankia, Katsina State for the teeming youth of the Northwest and Nigeria in general.

A big congratulations to the Governor Aminu Bello Masari, the entire people of the North-West for this big win. And of course, a big congratulations to Senator Ahmed Babba Kaita for his patience, resilience and perseverance that translated into the actualization of the two institutions. I’m sure, this rewarding result would unlock the door for more to come to Katsina State from where these came from.
