Thirteen people were said to have been killed in a road accident near Unguwan Ciyawa in Eggon Local Government of Nasarawa State yesterday. The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission in the state, Ismaila Kugu, told Daily Trust that the victims were 10 adults and three children.
He said 11 others sustained injuries in the accident.
He said: “We have evacuated the injured and the dead to Nasarawa Eggon Hospital.” He said the accident involved a truck with truck marked MSA 513 XA; a bus, BDG 530 SU, belonging to the Benue State Transport Company and a black car, RBC 45 AT. A witness said the truck and the bus “brushed” each other, lost control; the black car, which rammed into them, fell into a ditch by the roadside. A motorist, Jibrin Gwamna, said for hours, the accident led to the blockade of the road linking Eggon, Akwanga and Lafia the state capital. A road crash had last Monday left 11 people dead and others injured along the Lafia-Akwanga Road.
