Aisha Zakari a 40 year old woman, married with Children was arrested together with her Husband Alhaji Nasiru Jatau, their First Born son AbdulRahman Nasir. Aisha a lactating mother together with her 7 months old baby Hadiza Nasir were arrested by the personnel of Department of State Security Services Kebbi State Command. The security agents stormed the resident of Alhaji Nasir Jatau in Yelwa Town, Yauri Local Government of Kebbi State. Aisha is being accused of criticizing the Governor of Kebbi State for failure to pay the death benefits of their late father for some years.
Since after the arrest of Aisha, her husband and her child, they have been on detention at SS Headquarters in Birnin Kebbi and no body is allowed by the SS to gain access to them, nobody can ascertain their conditions of Health of Aisha and that of her daughter.
CSO, groups of people engaged in spreading and sharing the story about the unfortunate incident, demanding for the release of Aisha and her family members or be arraign to court, but government and SSS turned-down the request.
On Friday the 13th of September, 2019 at about 12pm, Aisha’s Husband together with their first child were released, but Aisha and her 7 months daughter are still in custody, we condemn the detention in totally and we are calling for the immediate release of Aisha and her daughter unconditionally.
Finally, we are calling for the President, the international Community, NGOs and other Agencies to come to the rescue of Aisha from this impunity and unprofessional conduct of the DSS, by allowing politicians to interfere with their core mandates of protecting lives and property of the citizens of Nigeria.
Freedom of expression is a fundamental Human Rights, and no matter your status you must respect it. And any attempt to deny a human being to express him/herself is an infringement into the persons human right. Therefore Aisha Zakari has every right to express herself.
The DG SSS should as a matter of urgency call the Kebbi State Director of SSS to order. Kebbi is known to be the most peaceful state in Nigeria, and any attempt by the State Director of SSS to deny people of Kebbi state to exercise their human rights will tantamount to total rejection by KCC and other CSOs.
