He was born in katsina in 1700 AC and studied at the Gobarau University katsina, which is said to have been a campus of the SANKORE University in MALI. The University was attached to Gobarau Mosque and as was the case then-mosque in ancient Islam were centre of higher Learning. He was said to have studied Mathematics, Philosophy and Astronomy under great Teacher some of whom travelled from Egypt and Libya. In 1732, he travelled to Egypt, en-route to MECCA to perform The HAJJ while in Egypt, he continued his advanced Mathematical research at the famous Al-Azhar University (Founded in 970 AD and still in existence to date).
