Katsina State Government has jointly with security forces demolished another house used by bandits as a hideout for their nefarious activities in Yartalata village of Kafur LG.
Addressing the Pressmen before the exercise, PPRO Katsina State Police Command, SP Gambo Isa said the house belong to one Ibrahim Masaja who is allegedly the kingpin of the bandits in that area.
He recalled that on the 18/1/2020 at about 3am a team of policemen led by the O/C SARS, Katsina raided the house and rescued one Paul Lawal, 25 years who was kidnapped by the hoodlums from his family house at staff quarters of GGSS, Malumfashi.
He said during police operation the said victim was discovered chained in a hut in the premises of Masaja’s house.
The PPRO said that the SARS succeed in arresting one the suspected bandits, named Bello, 2 loss their lives in an exchange of fire while the owner of the house is still at large.
In an interview, the arrested suspect Muhammadu Bell who led the joint team of the military, police and DSS and the Press to the demolishing exercise confessed to have participated in kidnapping Paul Lawal on the 4th January, this year and demanded for N15m ransom.
He however claimed to be a first timer who was lured into the nasty business by those already killed by the police.
The 4 bedroom mud house located at a scattered fulani settlement was then demolished by the use of two tractors in the presence of the newsmen under heavily armed security headed Major Ibrahim from the 35 Batallion, Katsina.
Later a grup of youths from the environs took their turn chanting ” success has come ” we are now relieved from bondage of the wicked.
While coming out of the forest the demolishing team was greeted by people at the neigbouring Malamaw town thronged on Malumfashi- Dankanjiba road hailing the team and showering encomiums on Governor Aminu Bello Masari for decisively dealing with the bandits.
