MAXIAR WOULD START DOMESTIC FLIGHTS FROM KATSINA

A memorandum of understanding-MOU has been signed between katsina state government and Max Air Nigeria Limited for domestic flights twice a week from Mallam Umar Musa Yar’adua Airport to destinations in Nigeria.
Governor Aminu Bello Masari, secretary to government of katsina state, Dr Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa and the solicitor general and permanent secretary in the ministry of Justice, Barrister signed on behalf of the government while the Vice chairman of the company, Alhaji Bishir Bara’u Mangal, the Director and Deputy Director of operations signed on behalf of Max Air Nigeria Limited.
Speaking shortly after signing the MOU, Governor Aminu Bello Masari described the agreement as another developmental effort to open katsina to other parts of the country in particular and the world at large.
The Governor expressed the belief that by having a commercial flight of which the people of Katsina have been asking, the domestic flights would improve commercial activities in the state.
Alhaji Aminu Masari also hoped that Max Air Nigeria Limited will keep to the time because time is very important in business, especially for Air traffic business.
The Governor assured that the present APC administration will strive to correct the mistakes that made previous efforts to fail.
He said government will look out for some business concerns and request them to patronize the services of the flight, saying a compulsory fees may likely be placed on such businessmen to the extent that wether they travel or not, there are certain seats that would be allocated to their enterprises.
Governor Aminu Masari said the burden of maintaining the flight needed to be equitably shared with bouyant business concerns, stressing that the chairman of Max Air Nigeria Limited will also sponsor some seats.
Alhaji Aminu Masari said government will encourage others to start using the plane to Abuja and Lagos, adding that it is very important because with the level of insecurity now and the level of vehicles on the roads , an air travel will be more cost effective.
He further explained that the amount to be spend through traveling by road with the attendant risks of loosing tyres , adding that the amount of hours to be lost too made a travel a wise choice.
Governor Aminu Masari observed that one takes a minimum of 6 to 7 hours from katsina to Abuja while flight to Abuja to katsina takes only 45 minutes to accomplish.
He advised people who could afford to stop loosing man hours in trying to get to Abuja or Lagos by road.
The Governor also advised Entrepreneurs to intimate their partners coming to katsina for business about the new development for the sustenance of the flight.
He asked Max Air Nigeria Limited to use the opportunity to procure smaller aircrafts, stressing that almost every state has an airport, adding that some of the Airports may not be as big as that of katsina but certainly the small aircrafts will serve the purpose.
In Northern states, he said no state is without an airport, adding that recently Yobe that was lagging behind is now constructing a cargo airport.
He also asked the company to purchase profeller aircrafts which are more safer than jetty engine aircrafts in conducting flights to smaller airports.
Governor Aminu Masari expressed the hope that the domestic flights will provide Business 24-7 to the çompany .
He prayed that the MOU signed will be of benefit to people of Katsina state and mankind at large.
Earlier, the Deputy Director in charge of operations, Alhaji Dikko Dahiru Bara’u Mangal told the Governor that the company will operate twice a week flight from katsina to other destinations in Nigeria.
In future, he said the company hope to include Wednesdays after the initial Mondays and Fridays flights.
