Masari, Christian Community hold emergency meeting


An emergency meeting has been held between Governor Aminu Bello Masari and the leadership of Christian community in katsina state.
Governor Aminu Bello Masari told the participants that the meeting was called to review the implementation of the issues discussed during a similar meeting convened last week.
He therefore directed the Deputy Governor, the secretary to government of katsina state, the commissioner of health and the permanent secretary in the state ministry of health to adequately briefed the meeting on the steps so far taken to curtail the spread of Covid-19.
The state chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria wanted to ascertain from the Governor wether small groups of five to ten members could hold daily lessons in church to which the Governor replied that such an action could make others to hold large gatherings.
As for now, Governor Aminu Masari while responding to another question said the restrictions would remain on suspension of holding Friday prayers and Sunday Mass in churches.
He said that the markets would remain open for now, adding that community leaders must record the names of returnees from either Abuja or Lagos or even abroad.
He said that government would require citizens to continue to pray that the state does not record the presence of Covid-19 in the state.
On the request for a committee to enlighten women in homes, Governor Aminu Masari directed the secretary to government of katsina state to set up such a committee with membership from various women groups.
On his part, the state Deputy Governor Quantity Surveyor Mannir Yakubu took time to announce the receipt of more donations from public spirited individuals in the state.
He announced that more donations are expected from people not necessarily in the merging of millions of Naira but what one could afford.
