…….backs FG, NASS palliative move for customers.
The management of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) says it is in support of the Federal Government and the National Assembly plans to ensure palliative measures through the proposed two months free electricity supply to all Nigerians.
KEDCO believes that the move by government would make life easier, during the lockdown aimed at containing the spread of the Coronavirus.
The management noted that though it’s still a proposal, it would continue to support any move to ensure that its numerous customers are happy in line with the priority of the company.
“ We are saying that the proposal for a 2-month free electricity supply being put forward by the legislative arm is good as it would assist in keeping people at home to contain the virus.
“ We have always supported any move in favour of the people and we believe as a company that the people especially our customers deserved to be happy while also assisting the government.”
The management, however, noted that the palliative move is still a proposal that has not been rectified and as such customers should continue to pay their bills, while KEDCO awaits the implementation of the palliative move by government.
On the issue, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of KEDCO, Dr Jamil Isyaku Gwamna said that the move was a welcome idea and it showed how concerned all stakeholders are to the plights of the ordinary people.
“ We know and feel the challenging effects of the coronavirus (COVID-19) on the economic lives of our customers and it is in that regard that we have given the nod to the proposed palliative for the people.
The Kano DisCo boss assured that KEDCO would continue to ensure constant and improved power supply during and after the pandemic, adding “ We have already mobilised more engineers to the fields and put modalities in place to ensure the comfort of all our customers in Kano, Jigawa and Katsina states.
While commending the government for the move, the KEDCO CEO charged the people to also support the government by following all protective measures in the interest of the country.
