Governor Aminu Bello Masari has inaugurated a projects completion committee in katsina state.
Speaking shortly before inaugurating the committee, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari announced that as the APC administration enters the second year in the second tenure, it has become imperative to inaugurate the committee.
The Governor explained that the aim was to make sure that before the end of 2022, his administration had completed all the projects that were started.
Alhaji Aminu Masari explained that except where it is absolutely necessary, government had since stopped embarking on new projects in the state.
The delay in forming the committee, he said was informed by two measure issues that negatively affected katsina state.
One, he said was insecurity as a result of banditry and secondly, Covid-19.
The two issues, according to the Governor put pressure on the resources of the state, the administration and in the entire citizens of katsina state.
He said however especially on the Covid-19 and to some extent with the insecurity, government had started observing some positive changes, adding that there will be light at the end of the tunnel.
Governor Masari revealed that with the resources now available to the state, government wants utilise it to complete critical projects, especially in the areas of education, health, water supply, agriculture and works but not only limited to the core ministries but others that touched the lives of the people in the state.
The Governor explained that the committee with whatever resources however will be allocated at the end of every month and allocate same or recommend those projects to be included for completion .
He said that the committee will be chaired by himself but in case of his busy schedule would be co- chaired by Architect Ahmed kurfi.
He said whenever he is not available, the committee should liase with the chief of staff Alhaji Muntari Lawal to ensure continuity in the assignment of the committee.
Other members of the committee, he said are Engineer Ibrahim Mai Maje, Quantity surveyor Najib Hussain, Associate Professor Babangida Hamza,kofar Bai, Architect Faisal Ja’afaru Rafin Dadi and the secretary of the committee, Abdullahi Sule.
Other terms of reference of the committee, according to Governor Masari are to identify and document all ongoing projects in katsina state, especially under the Ministries of education, health,water Resources and works.
He said that the committee would also determine the level of progress and outstanding works to be carried out and the cost of completion.
The Governor explained that the committee would be responsible for drawing up completion strategy to be broken down to small, medium and long terms.
He said that the committee should draw the attention of government on ways and means it deems appropriate to complete the projects
He said they could co-opt or recommend any professional that could help in completing a project in the course of the assignment.
