Governor Aminu Bello Masari has launched the distribution of Covid-19 palliative donated by a non-governmental organization “Coalition Against Covid19” (CACOVID).
In an address before he launched the distribution, Governor Aminu Masari said the items will cover 67,106 most vulnerable house holds across the state. He listed items donated to include hundreds of cartons of spaghetti, Noodles as well as large consignment of ten kilograms bags of rice, maize, five kilograms of sugar and one kilogram of Salt.
In his address, the state Deputy Governor QS Mannir Yakubu who also doubles as the Chairman of the State Emergency Response Committee on COVID19, states that the committee received donations in cash and kind from The local government areas, individuals, public and private organizations amounting to over One Billion Naira. Worthy of mention is the donation of One Hundred Million Naira by Alhaji Dahiru Bara’u Mangal.
QS Mannir Yakubu stated that activities carried out by the State Emergency Response Committee include the establishment of three comprehensive isolation centers at the General Amadi Rimi Specialist Hospital, IDP Camp and the Daura General Hospital.
This he said, was in addition to the rehabilitation, upgrading of part of the NYSC Camp, Youth leadership training center at Tashar Bala into holding centers as well as the establishment of holding centers in twenty eight General Hospitals.
Earlier, the state representative of CACOVID Alhaji Muhammad Bello said the donation was a joint initiative of private sector leaders and the Central Bank of Nigeria. He further stated that the relief program was intended to cover One Million Six Hundred Thousand most vulnerable families affected by the effects of the pandemic.
Alhaji Muhammad Bello thanked the state Governor for giving CACOVID his full support in the fight against the deadly virus.
Malama Baraka Usman of Marnar Maida expressed gratitude, on behalf of the beneficiaries, to both the state Government and CACOVID.
