America wants to put Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill. The White House on Monday said it was expediting plans to put a Black woman, Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill, a project, launched by former President Barack Obama and significantly delayed under Donald Trump’s presidency.
The move means Tubman will become the first African American to feature on a US bill.

1- Harriet Tubman was a slavery abolitionist and political activist
2- She was born into slavery in 1822
3- She escaped from slavery but went back to help dozens of others flee bondage before and during the Civil War of 1861-65.
4- During the American Civil War, she served as an armed scout and spy for the Union Army, because of her vast knowledge of the geography and topography of several states.
5- After the war, she became a champion of women’s rights.
6- She died in 1913.
7- Her life, and in particular her work helping enslaved people escape as a conductor was made into a Hollywood biopic in 2019.
