Breaking: Hoodlums attack owerri correctional service, freed inmates set vehicles ablaze

There has been an attack at the Owerri correctional service and police headquarters in owerri.

People suspected to be members of the Eastern security network invaded the correctional service headquarters around 1.00 am today freed inmates before setting the office ablaze and vehicles ablaze.

The hoodlums later moved to police headquarters where they also freed detainees and razed over ten police vehicles.

Public relations officer of Prisons Mr. James Madugba and Police Public relations officer Imo state police command SP Orlando Ikeokwu have both confirmed the attack but said they would give details later.

Correspondent Chinazo Ilechukwu reports that gate leading to government house which is adjacent to the police headquarters was riddled with bullet by the gun men.
