Police Repel Bandits Attack, Rescue Kidnapped Victim, Recover AK 47 Rifle, 36 Rustled Cows


KATSINA – The Katsina Police Command have repelled bandits attack and rescued one kidnapped victim at Tafkin Jege village in Kafur LGA of the state.

SP Gambo Isah, the command’s Public Relations Officer disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Katsina on Monday.

“On 17/07/2021 at about 23:21hrs, bandits riding on motorcycles, armed with AK 47 riflle, blocked a feeder road at Layin Minister, Malumfashi LGA and kidnapped one Usaini Zuma, aged 45yrs of Tafkin Jege village, Kafur LGA of Katsina state.”

According to the statement, a team of policemen led by the DPO Kankara Police division intercepted miscreants at Unguwar Nakome, Yargoje village, Kankara, engaged them into gun duel and rescued the victim.

In the course of profiling the scene, it added, one AK 47 riflle was recovered.

In another development, the statement said at about 17:00hrs, the same DPO Kankara Police division, led a team of Policemen to Majifa village in Kankara, engaged another group of bandits in a shot out and recovered thirty-six rustled cows.

“Many bandits are feared to have escaped with gun shot wounds and search party are still combing the area with a view to arresting the fleeing bandits”, the statement added.

The Command however urged members of the public to cooperate with the security agencies by giving them credible information.
