Abducted Niger monarch regains freedom


The abducted traditional ruler of Wawa also known as Dodo of Wawa of Borgu in New Bussa Local Government Area of Niger, Dr. Mahmud Ahmed Aliyu has regained freedom.

The traditional ruler was released on Friday night.

Aliyu was abducted last Saturday around 10 pm in his palace by gunmen said to have been dressed in military uniforms.

The Niger State Government confirmed his release, stating he was freed without payment of ransom.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Niger Governor, Mary Noel Berje assured the traditional ruler was in good health and not hurt in any way.
