Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara the Kanwan Katsina district head of Ketare has admonished the village heads, community leaders and Imams within his domain to intensify enlightenment campaigns for personal and environmental hygiene to reduce the spread of cholera outbreak.
The Kanwan Katsina gave the charge when he chaired a meeting with village heads in his palace in Ketare.
Alh. Usman Bello Kankara reaffirmed the need for the communities to avoid open defecation, clean toilets at all times wash their hands before eating and after using the toilets,imploring people to boil water before drinking, cook their food well, wash fruits before eating and cover their food at all times to avoid flies.
The royal father asked the communities to report any suspected case of outbreak to the nearest health care center for prompt action, advising nursing mothers to always present their children for routine immunization at all times as conducted by health officials in every community of the district.
Meanwhile, the traditional ruler used the occasion to call upon household to allow their female children age fifteen to forty nine to be duly immunized against maternal neonatal tetanus disease. To this end, elimination campaign against tetanus disease was conducted between nine to thirteen of this month in some selected local government of the state which Kankara is included.
