The Hon Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Sadiya Umar Farouq has flagged-off distribution of Federal Government’s relief materials approved for victims of the recent fire disaster at Nguru Market in Yobe State, the events took place in January, 2022.
The relief items were delivered by the National Emergency Management Agency while the flagged-off distribution was witnessed by the Senate President, Dr Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, who appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari, Minister Sadiya Umar Farouq and NEMA for the prompt response.
In her remarks, the Hon. Minister Sadiya Umar Farouq who was represented by Director Humanitarian and Disaster Management in the Ministry Alhaji Grema Ali conveyed the sympathy of the Federal Government to Government and people of Yobe State, especially to the affected persons.
In addition to the relief items, the Minister disclosed that she has also directed the North East Development Commission to further assess the disaster to support in the recovery of the victim.
The Director General of NEMA Mustapha Habib Ahmed was represented by the Director Relief and Rehabilitation NEMA Alh. Alhassan Nuhu led a team of the Agency to ensure the delivery of the items.
