No fewer than six farmers have been abducted by persons suspected to be members of the Islamic State for West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorist group in Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State.
It was learnt that the farmers were working on their farmland near Mafa town before they were forcefully taken to an unknown destination on Wednesday.
According to Zagazola Makama, a Counter Insurgency Expert and Security Analyst in the Lake Chad, the victims who were mostly displaced persons went missing after they went to their farm at Bulagarji village, located some kilometres away from Mafa town.
Relatives of the victims, who confirmed the incident, said the insurgents attacked the farmers in the wee hours of Wednesday and took them to an unknown destination.
One of the relatives who chose to be anonymous said that ISWAP was demanding a N5 million ransom.
